Reporting a newly hired worker – It’s the law!
New hire reporting has become mandatory in Vermont for many years. The easiest and fastest way to report a new hire is on-line; access to the application can be gained through “Employer Applications” provided in the green box on the left. When reporting a new hire, employers are required to report the following details:
ü Employer’s Name, Address, and Federal Employer Identification Number (FEIN)
ü Worker’s Name, Address, Social Security Number and first date of employment.
Reports of new hire must be filed within 10 days of the first day work is performed or was previously employed by the employer but has been separated from such prior employment for at least 60 consecutive days.
General Information on New Hire Reporting Requirements provides information related to reporting a new hire.
