Governor Phil Scott Proclaims Annual National Apprenticeship Week in Vermont
Montpelier, VT – Governor Phil Scott has officially proclaimed November 13, 2023, to November 17, 2023, National Apprenticeship Week for the State of Vermont.
“Vermont is proud to actively support initiatives that widen the opportunities for individuals to embark on rewarding apprenticeship pathways, understanding these programs enrich both individuals and the broader community,” said Governor Phil Scott.
This annual event shines a spotlight on the career pathways available through registered apprenticeship programs which are based on an ‘earn while you learn’ training model. Registered apprentices earn wages while they receive training for their jobs.
“Registered Apprenticeship programs are critical to expanding Vermont’s workforce,” said Labor Commissioner Michael Harrington. “The Registered Apprenticeship model provides individuals a hands-on approach to a successful career pathway while meeting the needs of employers looking to fill workforce gaps with skilled employees.”
During National Apprenticeship Week, the Department of Labor will host a series of events that showcase the benefits of apprenticeships, their role in workforce development, and the opportunities they offer to employers.

- Virtual Panel Discussion: "Pathways to Excellence: A Panel on Vermont’s Manufacturing Apprenticeships"

The panel includes Vermont apprenticeship leaders and will feature guests that will share experiences drawn from the Austrian model of dual education.
